The American Dreamboat

Imagine. Each day you wake, grab a coffee, check out the news. And there he is, talking about education or healthcare or China, or whatever. Who cares? It’s George Clooney, our nation’s president.

It’s like Martin Sheen on West Wing, but 100 times hotter. Or actor turned president Ronald Reagan, but less hawkish.

When I first read George Clooney’s call in the New York Times for President Biden to step aside, I thought, “Oh no, not you too Clooney.” I mean, why is everyone beating up on poor Joe?

Clooney’s argument in his opinion piece is that, while it may be “messy”, Biden stepping aside gives Democrats the best chance of beating Trump in November.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big f***ing deal’ Biden of 2010,” he wrote. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”

“We can put our heads in the sand and pray for a miracle in November, or we can speak the truth,” he added.

While a lot of people probably agree with Clooney, the problem is that voters chose Joe Biden. He can’t just step down and replace himself. And if he does, it won’t just be messy. All hell will break loose. For the next five…
